Annabel Allison (Lucille Ball) is a movie star who has lost her shine. Frustrated by being overshadowed in the press by another actress who was recently engaged to royalty, she hires famously amoral publicity agent Lanny Morgan (Jack Oakie) to garner her the attention she craves. Together they plot an ingenious promotional tour punctuated by a wild string of publicity stunts that not only grab the notice of the media but also get the attention of a desirable viscount (Ralph Forbes).
